We can obviously see that at least for now, hydrofracking needs to stop. But what can you do to help prevent hydrofracking and save your water? Believe it or not, there are several things that you can do…
1. Contact local officials, such as the governor, legislators and other officials. Find a list of officials and contact information below. You should tell them how you feel about hydrofracking. Tell the governor to extend his executive order prohibiting it long enough for the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to fully conduct their study. Tell legislators to advocate for and pass laws prohibiting, or at the very least regulating hydraulic fracturing (as stated on the about page, hydrofracking is not regulated). Tell them that you want clean safe water to drink!
2. See Gasland, a documentary by Josh Fox, about hydraulic fracturing and its effects on people, animals and the environment. This movie will give you a lot more information on hydrofracking.
3. Spread the word! Tell everybody about hydrofracking! Tell everyone you know to see this site and to do whatever they can to keep our water safe.
